What are Creative Visualisation Techniques

Simply put creative visualisation techniques are a set of tools you can use to attract good things into your life.

Visualisation is about visualising (imagining) what it is you want to the point that it feels tangible to you. Not only can you imagine it, you can feel what it's like to have it and can see what you would do with it ~ for all intents and purposes you can imagine yourself in your mind with whatever it is you want.

There is one very important thing to remember with creative visualisation ~ there are many paths to achieving the same outcome and they can be different for everyone, so while it's important to visualise the what, don't get hung up on the how and just trust that that will happen.

How To Attract Good Things Into Your Life

First you need to know what they are, and this is the bit that can tie you up in knots ~ mainly because you try to over analyse the situation. You start getting bogged down with questions such as 'how specific should I be', 'what if I leave something out', 'what if I change my mind' ~ before you know it you're going round in circles and getting nowhere ~ so the first thing to do is sit back, relax, grab a bit of paper and begin to day dream a bit.

When starting with visualsiation exercises It's best to be quite general initially ~ at least while you're narrowing down your 'shopping list' of things you want to visualise. It's also good to remember that this isn't necessarily as easy as it looks ~ it's always a lot easier to know what you don't want rather than what you do.

It's important to be realistic ~ and by that I don't mean lower your expectations but if you're a 5ft 4" brunette there's no point visualising yourself as a 6ft red head as short of wearing 8" heels and dying your hair (which would only be transient anyway) it's not going to happen. More important is to ask why you want to be a 6ft red head - if the answer is because you want to feel more attractive or stand out from the crowd then that's what you need to concentrate on and visualise. Remember it may not take you being a 6ft red head to feel more attractive, it might just take one person telling you how good you look to have the same effect.

Remember what I said earlier about different methods of getting to your destination, well the same applies here. There are many ways of achieving what you want so while it's good to be specific about what you want i.e. financial security or a job you love, don't limit yourself by being too specific about how you achieve that.

For example lets say that one of the main areas you want to improve is work, you want a job you love, that pays well and that you're good at.

Rather than visualise a specific job, visualise how you would feel in the job of your dreams i.e. confident, happy, self assured. Think about where it would be i.e. in an office, outside, maybe travelling. Think about the type of thing you'd like to be doing i.e. are you a natural organiser, do you love to pass on your knowledge, are you good with people. Think about what benefits you'd like this job to come with i.e. salary, healthcare, pension etc. When you close your eyes you need to 'be' in that job.

Another example would be if you wanted to improve your financial situation. Visualising yourself winning the lottery may seem like a good idea but actually just limits you to one path ~ whereas many paths give you a much greater chance of success. Instead visualise yourself always having enough money for your needs, visualise yourself going on a shopping spree, capture the feelings of having enough money i.e. security, freedom.

Imagine Your Life as You Want it To Be

In Stage One of this process we looked at how the brain can't tell the difference between something imagined and something real.

If you spend you're time always thinking 'I want to be' that's where your brain will see everything ~ permanently in the future.

For real change to happen you need to think 'I am'. When you're visualising you need to see it, feel it and be it in your mind.

Start small if you like, start with there always being parking spaces where you need them, or with traffic lights being green (or red if you need a minute to look at the map).
