Use a Milk Frother for Frothy Coffee and Other Drinks
63Make Frothy Coffee With a Milk Frother
A milk frother may look like a cross between an electric toothbrush and a whisk but the results it gives are brilliant. Once you've started with one, you won't be able to stop.
Whether you want to make frothy coffee or a milkshake this little gadget makes it not only incredibly easy, but also a lot of fun.
To operate you simply insert the whisk end into the milk and press the button, the whisk does it's thing at very high speed, and hey presto milk is transformed into professional looking froth.
As an alternative to these battery operated gadgets there manually operated versions of milk frothers which work on a plunge system.
Battery Powered Milk Frothers
Milk frothers can be used with hot or cold milk, though when using the battery operated versions such as the aerolatte milk frother it's best to no more than half fill the mug or jug you're using as a container with milk as otherwise the froth can come over the top.
To make frothy coffee (a sort of cheats latte using the hand frother to froth the milk rather than steam) add the required amount of hot or cold milk to a large mug or jug (cold milk can be heated in the microwave when frothed). Use the frother to get the right amount of froth then pour over pre-prepared coffee, keeping some of the froth back to add at the end.
They come in a variety of colours including a sleek black version as well as the more traditional white, but for sheer fun it's hard to beat the fabulous black and white cow hide design of the aerolatte 20 Moo Frother.

Alternative Milk Frothers
As stated previously there are other milk frothing products on the market such as the Bodum Chambord Milk Frother which operates on a plunger system to froth the coffee.
For the ultimate frothing experience the Capresso frothPRO is a lovely gadget, being able to both froth and heat the milk in the same machine, as does the cordless Keurig Cafe One Touch Milk Frother which looks rather like a mini kettle.
The Froth Au Lait comes highly recommended by users and seems to be ideal if you need to make enough foam for several cups of coffee (or hot chocolate) at the same time, and if I ever get bored with my little battery powered whisk on a stick this is the one I would seriously look at as a replacement.
